Founding and Early Days (2015)
Rhude, a contemporary menswear brand, was founded in 2015 by Rhuigi Villaseñor, a Filipino-American designer. The brand quickly gained a reputation for blending luxury streetwear with a minimalist aesthetic, creating pieces that are both stylish and functional.
Here’s the story behind Rhude.
Early Life and Inspiration
Born in Manila, Philippines, Rhuigi Villaseñor moved to the United States with his family at a young age. His mother was a tailor, and his father worked as an architect, which exposed him to fashion and design early on.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Villaseñor was influenced by the city’s diverse culture and fashion scene. He was particularly drawn to the blend of luxury and streetwear, which would later become a hallmark of Rhude’s designs.

The Birth of Rhude
In 2015, Villaseñor founded Rhude with a vision to create high-quality, luxury streetwear. The brand’s name, a play on the word “rude,” reflects its bold and unapologetic approach to fashion.
Rhude’s first major breakthrough came with the release of the “Traxedo” pants, a unique design combining the comfort of track pants with the sophistication of a tuxedo. This piece quickly became a favorite among celebrities and fashion influencers, helping to catapult the brand into the spotlight.
